GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run

Gore initiated the first Transalpine Run in 2005, and in 2009 Gore dedicated itself for the fifth time as title sponsor of this extreme sporting event. Following in the footsteps of Hannibal, but running in the opposite direction, the Transalpine runners crossed per pedes through three Alpine nations in eight days.

This year their route will lead them from Oberstdorf through four countries to Latsch in South Tyrol. Along the way, the athletes will cover a distance of approximately 240 kilometers and overcome more than 15,000 meters of altitude – without a day’s rest in between. In the autumn of 2008, 220 two-person teams from 18 different countries in various categories started the Transalpine Run.

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough
Häberlein & Mauerer had already developed the communications concept for this event, which is unique in Europe, in 2005. Since then, the agency’s spectrum of services has extended from implementation of the entire presswork to coordination among all participating European PR agencies. Selected special-interest journalists from Germany and other European nations were likewise invited to face the challenge of this ambitious Alpine crossing in 2008. Häberlein & Mauerer equipped the journalists with the latest running shoes and supported them in all journalistic aspects before, during and after the Transalpine Run.
